Welcome to Parkside Group Practice

We are a friendly team of professionals whose aim is to look after the health of you and your family.  All our staff are trained to put your health needs first and we are committed to giving you the best possible service.

Our practice is situated in South Croydon, Surrey. We have eight GPs to look after a population of approximately 12,500 patients. Our team also includes four practice nurses, a health care assistant and a phlebotomist.

The practice is a GP training practice and we are lucky enough to have two new registrars each year. Registrars are fully qualified doctors undertaking the final year of a three-year postgraduate GP training course. We also offer supervision to FY1 & 2 medical students.

The practice is committed to offering all patients (including those under 16) a confidential service in a safe environment.

 BOWEL CANCER AWARENESS

About one in 20 people in the UK will develop bowel cancer during their lifetime with the risk increasing with age. If bowel cancer is detected at the earliest stage, there is over a 90% chance of survival and it is one of the most successful cancers to treat.

Symptoms include:

  • a change in your normal bowel habit lasting 3 weeks or more. eg. loose stools, diarrhoea, increased frequency
  • Bleeding from the bottom (rectum) and/or blood in your stools lasting 3 weeks or more
  • Unexplained extreme tiredness and/or weight loss
  • A pain or lump in your abdomen and/or back passage

Most symptoms won't be bowerl cancer but sometimes it is easy to dismiss or leave them longer than you should.

If you have any symptoms and are over 50, call us and ask for a bowel check at the surgery.

NEW! VISIT YOUR PHARMACY FIRST FOR MINOR AILMENTS

FEEL BETTER FAST – No waiting – no appointment necessary

At the Parkside Group Practice we have always supported our Pharmacy colleagues who are experts in medicines, how they work and what conditions they treat.

We are therefore delighted to inform our patients about the Pharmacy Minor Ailments Scheme which offers Croydon residents access to medicines, health advice and treatment from their local pharmacy without requiring any prescriptions or vouchers.

HOW IT WORKS
To take part in the scheme, simply go to your local Pharmacy and ask the Pharmacist for medication under the Minor Ailments Scheme (you can show them this newsletter if you wish).

Pharmacists are able to provide you with medicines for minor conditions free of charge if you are normally exempt from prescription charges. If you are not exempt from prescription charges, you will pay the normal over-the counter charge to the pharmacy.
