EMIS Access - Click to order a repeat prescription

New users to this service please visit Reception and complete a form. We will then create an account and Pin for you to collect.

All prescriptions must be requested in writing and you should allow two working days before collection. Medication on the repeat system can be requested by ticking the items required on the list attached to the prescription. This is the most accurate and quickest way of requesting repeat prescriptions. For all other requests the name and address of the patient and the name, strength and dosage of the medication is needed. There are a number of ways repeat prescriptions can be dealt with:

• Putting your request in the box in the waiting room.

• Arranging through one of the nine local chemists to collect your prescription for you. You will need to arrange this initially with your chemist. Ask at reception for the names of the chemists who provide this service.

• Sending your request to us with a stamped, self-addressed envelope for us to send back to you. A first class stamp will speed its return.

This also applies to medication recommended by consultants at outpatient appointments. If consultants prescribe medication to be started immediately they will give either a prescription for the hospital pharmacy or a private prescription (after a private consultation). Only a very limited supply of medication prescribed by consultants can be given until the full written instructions are received by the GP. There are some medications which can be prescribed only by a consultant and all repeats of those must be requested directly from them.

All medication is constantly monitored to ensure that it is being correctly used, that it is still effective and is having no detrimental side effects. You may therefore periodically be asked to have blood tests or blood pressure checks or attend asthma, well woman, diabetic or coronary heart disease clinics or GP reviews. Appointments for these should be made as soon as possible to ensure continuation of medication.
