GP Registrars

GP registrars are fully qualified doctors undertaking within the practice under the supervision of one of the GP trainers the final year of a three-year postgraduate GP training course leading to the MRCGP qualification. During this time as part of their assessment they are required to video a number of consultations and the co-operation of patients with this is much appreciated. If you would prefer not to have the consultation recorded please inform the doctor or the receptionist.

GP registrars change annually, or may be on an accelerated six-month placement.

Medical Students

Medical students from St George's and King's College Hospitals occasionally sit in with the GPs or may take a medical history from patients before they are seen by the doctor. This is part of their undergraduate training but if you would prefer not to have a student present please tell the doctor or receptionist.

The Practice Nurses

There is a team of part-time practice nurses, Sisters Jane Hull, Marie O'Sullivan, Janey Carpenter and Sarah England. In addition to all the usual nursing skills they have all undertaken further specialised training in a number of fields and play a key role in their management and treatment of the following:

Asthma   Smoking Cessation
Diabetes   Smears
Hypertension   Childhood and Adult Vaccinations
Coronary Heart Disease   Foreign Travel Advice and Vaccinations
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)   Leg Ulcers and Wounds (excluding suturing)
Cerebrovascular Disease (Strokes and TIAs)   Diet, Weight Control and Exercise
Peripheral Vascular Disease   Ear Syringing

The practice nurses also carry out new patient, well man and over 75 health checks. Because of the different specialities of individual nurses and length of relevant appointment time required and to avoid a wasted visit, it is important when making an appointment with one of the nurses to state the reason for the appointment.
