Nurses & Healthcare Assistants
We have a team of part-time practice nurses, Sisters Jane Tibble, Janey Carpenter and Sarah England. In addition to all the usual nursing skills they have all undertaken further specialised training in a number of fields and play a key role in the management and treatment of the following:
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Coronary Heart Disease
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Cerebrovascular Disease (Strokes and TIAs)
- Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Smears
- Childhood and Adult Vaccinations
- Foreign Travel Advice and Vaccinations
- Leg Ulcers and Wounds (excluding suturing)
- Diet, Weight Control and Exercise
- Ear Syringing
The practice nurses also carry out new patient, well person and over 75 health checks. Because of the different specialities of individual nurses and length of relevant appointment time required and to avoid a wasted visit, it is important when making an appointment with one of the nurses to state the reason for the appointment.
Our team also consists of our two Healthcare Assistants, Sara Moutell & Carly Broad and our Phlebotomist, Charlotte Nagle Webb. Our Healthcare Assistants undertake new patient and blood pressure checks; and routine weighing. HCAs also take blood for specific patients at the request of doctors and assists the nurses in some of the specialised clinics. Charlotte, our Phlebotomist, takes blood at the request of the doctors.
